Is social media social?

‘You received a poke on facebook’, this seems to be what the general society now seems to look for, namely a certain amount of likes and comments. There are a lot of different types of social media available now for everyone. Take twitter for example, it has gained so much power, that it can have an effect on political decisions being made in a country. (closure prep schools in Turkey, millions of tweets send on this topic)

However, I think we are starting to lose this generation on the so called ‘social media sites’. It has become a very common sight seeing teenagers sitting next to each other and still texting one another. The way they communicate with the world has become their phone. We have to find a way for the youth to make use of these wonderful achievements in modern society without destroying their social human communication skills. There are already psychological problems starting to rise like internet addiction. Just want to make aware that like I wrote on my blog before  (youtube) the internet can definitely be a great teacher, but it shouldn’t consume our entire life.
